Ukraine’s defense spending in 2025 will increase by over UAH 324 billion.
Verkhovna Rada has adopted amendments to the state budget that provide for an increase in funding for the security and defense sector by UAH 324.7 billion, said Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.
“This decision will allow us to cover the current priority needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other components of the Defense Forces,” he said.
More than UAH 156 billion will be allocated for salaries and additional payments to servicemen, in particular those performing combat missions at the front line.
Another UAH 108 billion will be spent on logistics for military units, the purchase of weapons, ammunition and drones, as well as support for the defense industry.
A portion of the funds will be used to fulfill social obligations to defenders and families of fallen soldiers.
The government emphasizes that these changes will allow for stable financing of the defense sector and ensure timely payments to the military.
Moreover, additional resources will help expand the production capacity of the defense industry and increase the production of modern weapons systems.
The increased funding is part of a course to develop the innovative component of the Defense Forces, from unmanned systems to precision weapons.
“We are strengthening the defense capability of the state, scaling up the defense industry, and ensuring stability for our soldiers,” the government emphasized.
The Cabinet of Ministers has recently allocated UAH 36.6 billion for the needs of the Ministry of Defense.
