The Czech company VOP CZ has resumed preparations to produce the CV90 infantry fighting vehicle under a contract for the Czech Army.
According to NatoAktual, the first CV90 assembled in the Czech Republic is expected to roll off the line in the fall of next year.
Production lines are being installed, and testing preparations are underway.
The CV90 production and assembly project is the largest in VOP CZ’s history. At peak output, the plant is expected to produce up to 20 combat vehicles per month.
To support this, the company is optimizing logistics, building a test range, and planning to hire around 200 additional specialists.
In addition to assembling the vehicles, VOP CZ is preparing to produce components for simulators and training systems, allowing crew training to be integrated into a single production and service cycle.
The CV90 MkIV is the latest generation of Swedish infantry fighting vehicles and was selected by Czechia to replace the Soviet-era BMP-2. The contract for 246 vehicles requires at least 40% Czech industry participation, covering both production and after-sales support.
This approach is intended to strengthen the national defense sector and ensure long-term support for the vehicles throughout their service life.
Previously, BAE Systems Hägglunds in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, delivered the first serial CV90s for the Czech Armed Forces. This vehicle is part of an initial batch of 39 units assembled in Sweden. The remaining more than 200 vehicles will be completed and assembled at VOP CZ’s Czech facilities.
