The British government estimates that approximately 15,000 Russian servicemen have died in Ukraine.
Militarnyi informs about this.
These losses account for casualties after Russia launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine two months ago.
Russia had officially recognized the death of only 1,351 of its servicemen.
Voice of America reports that Ben Wallace, British Defense Secretary mentioned in his speech to the Parliament that 25 percent of Russia’s combat units sent to Ukraine had are now deemed ‘not combat effective’, and that Russia had lost over 2,000 armored vehicles, more than 60 helicopters and fighter jets.
Wallace also stated that Russia failed to achieve most of its military goals.
“We anticipate this next phase of the invasion to be Russia’s attempt to occupy Donbas further to connect it with the Crimea via Mariupol,” shared the Secretary with the Commons.
According to him, international assistance and weapons are crucial for Ukraine to resist the anticipated Russian offensive.
Secretary Wallace also confirmed to the MPs that Britain would be increasing its support for Ukraine by supplying Kyiv with over 5,000 Stormer armored vehicles fitted with launchers for anti-air missiles.
The Stormer HVM (High-Velocity Missile) is a short-range air defense system. Stormer is an armored track platform with Starkstreak or Martlet LMM rocket launcher that has 8 containers mounted on it.
Both types of missiles are already being used by the Ukrainian servicemen against Russia in the form of MANPADS.
Eight ready-to-fire missiles are stored in the launchers, and up to 12 reload missiles are carried inside the hull.
