The 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade has received Ukrainian BTR-4E armored personnel carriers.
The brigade states that its soldiers are currently training to operate the new vehicles.
“We are currently learning to ride it. It can accommodate 8 people,” the military said.
The Ukrainian BTR-4 armored personnel carrier is designed to transport troops and provide fire support during combat.
A variety of specialized versions have been developed based on this platform, including command, medical, repair, and evacuation vehicles.
It is known that before the full-scale invasion, the BTR-4Es had been manufactured at the Kharkiv Design Bureau for Mechanical Engineering.
Before the full-scale Russian invasion, the BTR-4E was produced by the Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau, while the hulls were manufactured at the Zhytomyr Armored Plant.
In 2024, the production of the BTR-4E continued despite the ongoing Russian war against Ukraine.
Developed in the mid-2000s, the armored personnel carrier has been supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces since 2014.
The standard armament of the vehicle includes the BM-7 Parus combat module, which is equipped with a 30 mm automatic cannon, a 30 mm automatic grenade launcher, and a 7.62 mm machine gun.
This combination enables the BTR-4E to effectively engage targets on the battlefield and continue operating in case of malfunction with the cannon.
The BTR-4E’s armor protects it against 12.7 mm caliber rounds around the vehicle’s circumference and 14.5 mm in the frontal area.
To counteract anti-tank weapons, the armored personnel carrier is equipped with anti-cumulative grilles that can be installed or removed based on mission requirements.
