Ukrainian Drones Strike Kalibr Missile Carrier in Caspian Sea

On the night of May 7, the Ukrainian Armed Forces used drones to strike the Project 22800 Karakurt small missile ship in the Caspian Sea.

The enemy vessel, capable of carrying Kalibr cruise missiles, was in the vicinity of the Kaspiysk base in the Republic of Dagestan, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The damage to the Karakurt limits the enemy’s ability to launch missile strikes on Ukrainian territory. Such small missile ships are among the most modern units in the Russian fleet.

It is known that two Project 22800 ships — Tucha and Typhoon — are based in the Caspian Sea, while Russia deployed the third, Amur, to the Baltic Sea last October.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed the ships Askold and Tsiklon of the same project.

In addition to the naval target, units struck an enemy command post in Sosnivka, Luhansk Oblast, and a UAV control facility near Yasne, Donetsk Oblast.

Ukrainian troops also destroyed ammunition and fuel/lubricant depots in Kalmykivka and Smolyaniv. Additionally, fire was directed at concentrations of enemy troops near the settlements of Dersove and Smile.
