Vantor’s artificial intelligence and satellite analytics helped to detect an Iranian oil tanker captured and detained by the United States.

This was reported on the company’s official page on X.

The vessel was spotted in the morning while moving southwest in the Caribbean Sea, north of the island of Guadeloupe.

To determine the location, the Maritime Sentry system was used, an AI platform for continuous monitoring of the maritime space created by Vantor.

The platform combines automated alerting and targeting mechanisms with multi-sensor data and advanced analytics to detect, track and identify vessels over millions of square kilometers of ocean.

In this case, the system processed AIS (Automatic Identification System) data along with highly detailed satellite imagery. This made it possible to accurately triangulate the position of the tanker and obtain its image in almost real time.

Vantor notes that this episode demonstrates the potential of technological solutions – continuous monitoring of land and sea areas, providing high-quality intelligence information at the operational pace required for real-world missions.

As a reminder, the tanker was seized by the United States on December 10, 2025. Later it turned out that the vessel belonged to Iran’s ‘shadow fleet.’ This is the Skipper tanker, which was flying a false flag and transmitting false information about its location.

The United States put the ship on the sanctions list because of its participation in oil trade in favor of the Quds Force of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The Skipper oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela was seized by US Special Forces, who landed on its deck from an MH-60 Seahawk military helicopter.

The tanker left the main Venezuelan oil port of Jose between December 4 and 5, after loading about 1.8 million barrels of heavy Merey crude oil.

In addition, the United States is preparing to intercept more vessels carrying Venezuelan oil after the seizure of one of the tankers this week.
