Ukrainian Drone Helps Wounded Russian Soldier Surrender

Soldiers of the 13th Khartiia Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine used a drone to find and help a wounded Russian soldier surrender.

The Ukrainian military noticed, with the help of a drone, a wounded Russian serviceman abandoned by his unit in the Kharkiv sector.

“The Russians have once again proved that ‘we leave no one behind’ is an empty phrase [for them],” the brigade says.

Soldiers of the 13th Khartiia Brigade dropped water and a note containing instructions to a Russian soldier. Following the directions, the Ukrainian drone operator then guided the Russian invader towards the Ukrainian military.

The soldiers of the 13th Khartiia Brigade shared food and water with the Russian POW and provided him with specialized medical care. For reference, the Russian POW was evacuated on an Oncilla APC.

The Russian invader was sent to a special camp for prisoners of war. Later, he will be exchanged for a Ukrainian soldier.

“Our servicemen do not forget about the humane treatment of prisoners of war. We adhere to the Geneva Convention and fight with dignity,” the brigade emphasizes.

Replenishment of the Ukrainian exchange fund

On August 15, Militarnyi reported that more than a hundred Russian soldiers laid down their arms and surrendered to Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region.

Later, it became known that SSU special forces captured 102 Russian POWs.

In the course of the operation, the Special Group “Alpha” of the SSU captured and cleared an extensive, concrete, and well-fortified stronghold of the 488th Motor Rifle Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces.

Previously, information about the capture of the Russian command post of the 488th regiment by soldiers of the 225th Separate Assault Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was also posted online.

It is noted that the facility had underground utilities and accommodation for military personnel, dining rooms, a weapons room, and supplies and provisions necessary for defense.
