Ukrainian forces are fighting near the village of Mala Loknya in the Kursk region.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, expressed hope about capturing new Russian prisoners of war in the area.
Oleksandr Syrskyi has informed Volodymyr Zelensky that the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue fighting in the Kursk region of Russia and have advanced in some areas from 1 to 3 km towards the enemy.
“Fighting continues along the entire front line. In general, the situation is under control. All measures are being carried out as planned,” Syrsky said.
When asked by the President if the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Kursk region were lacking anything, Syrsky responded:
“We are provided with everything. The logistics system is running smoothly, and Moskalev has taken up his duties. There are no issues that require your decision.”
When asked about the POW exchange fund, Syrsky said that “there are currently battles in the area of Mala Loknya.”
“I hope a lot of prisoners will be taken there,” the Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief added.
Mala Loknya is located in the Suzhansky district.
The village is located on the Loknya river, 13.5 km from the Russian-Ukrainian border, 80 km southwest of Kursk, and 16 km north of the district center, the city of Sudzha.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian military recently destroyed a key bridge connecting the border areas of the Kursk region with the right bank of the Seim River.
The Ukrainian Air Force has also recently conducted an air strike on facilities in the village of Tiotkino, 2.5 kilometers from the Russian-Ukrainian border.
