The Russian military has built a new base in Novocherkassk near Rostov-on-Don.

Satellite images published by Radio Svoboda show that the base is located 200 kilometers from the front line.

According to satellite imagery, the Russian army set up the new military base between a penal colony and two unfinished secondary schools on the site of another abandoned military facility, Cooking School No.195, which was closed in 2011.

However, last summer, after twelve years of silence, changes started to take place on the abandoned territory of the former military school.

According to satellite images, the first military equipment appeared here at the end of August 2023.

At that time, fifty military trucks were parked on the site, and a dozen tents were set up. Since then, the base has tripled in size in almost a year.

This base in Novocherkassk might belong to the 100th Military Logistics Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces.

The 100th Military Logistics Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces was established in 2014.

The regiment’s tasks include delivering military cargo to the combat zone and eliminating man-made disasters, such as fires and floods.

The possible partial redeployment of the 100th Military Logistics Regiment from the Moscow region to the Rostov region, closer to the front line, may be evidenced by the change in the geolocation of several of its soldiers’ phones.

Schemes journalists managed to record the cell phone of Andriy Polukhin, an officer of the 100th Military Logistics Regiment, on the territory of the new military base in Novocherkassk. In the leaks from Russian databases, Polukhin is listed as “deputy head of the unit” and “commander.” Another officer of the 100th Regiment whose phone was found by Schemes at the site of the new military base in Novocherkassk is Dmitriy Dubovik. According to leaks from Russian databases, he has the rank of captain.

Matvey Shokurov’s phone number was also located in Novocherkassk. According to Russian databases, he is registered in the area of the regiment’s permanent location near Moscow, as are Polukhin and Dubovik. However, since the beginning of July, Shokurov’s phone has been transmitting a signal in the location of a new military base near Rostov.
