In the morning of Saturday, July 13, an oil depot in the Tsimlyansky district of the Rostov region of Russia caught fire after a drone attack.
According to preliminary data provided by the regional authorities, there were no casualties.
In particular, according to Mash, gasoline and diesel fuel were stored in tanks at the oil depot.
“One of the UAVs fell 20 meters from the industrial site. The second one hit the target. A fire broke out,” the sources told Mash.
The fire was assigned the third rank of difficulty. The fire was not localized until 11 a.m.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said that on the night of July 13, Russian air defense forces had allegedly intercepted and destroyed two drones over the territory of the Rostov region and one drone each over the territory of the Belgorod and Kursk regions.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces or special services have not yet commented on the cause of the fire in Russia.
However, recently, following reports from Russia about drone attacks and fires at oil depots, and similar facilities, Ukrainian agencies have claimed that the drones had been launched by their forces.
Since March, Ukraine began regularly attacking oil refineries in Russia.
In May, Bloomberg reported that regular strikes by Ukrainian drones had put about 14 percent of Russia’s oil refining capacity out of commission.
In June 2024, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi reported that the Security Service of Ukraine had hit more than 30 oil refineries and oil depots in Russia.
As previously reported, on July 9, an oil depot caught fire in the Volgograd region of Russia as a result of a drone strike. On July 6, drones hit Lukoil’s oil depot in Krasnodar Krai.
