Ukraine will release a comic book called “I’m Going to Assault,” which will be dedicated to Ukrainian assault forces.
The UA Comix website says that the 24-page comic book is to be released in July and August.
It tells about the everyday life and skills of the soldiers of the 3rd Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“The life of the soldiers of the 2nd Assault Battalion of the 3rd Assault Brigade, led by their commander Slip, is worthy of becoming a comic book story,” UA Comix shared.
The comic tells the story of the soldiers, imbued with Ukrainian mysticism and military spirit.
The authors tried to convey the atmosphere of war, which Ukrainians know about from the videos filmed by assault servicemen on their helmet cameras.
“Amidst the roar of artillery, enemy sniper shots, and destroyed houses, the strength and victory of the brigade’s soldiers are revealed,” the annotation reads.
Proceeds from the sale of the comic book “I’m Going to Assault” will be used to meet the needs and support the soldiers of the 3rd Assault Brigade.
Author Volodymyr Kuznetsov said that in addition to the combat actions the brigade is involved in, the cartoon demonstrates the difference in motivation between Ukrainians and invaders.
“It is not about a banal distinction between black and white. We tried to show, even if only in a brief flash, the civilizational gap that separates Ukraine from the former empire,” the author said.
Kuznetsov says that he has been working on creating comics for a long time, and in 2022, he started working on social and documentary comics describing the fate of people during the full-scale invasion: prisoners, volunteers, partisans. All of them were civilians.
Recall that in 2020, the story of the Ukrainian defenders of the Donetsk Airport named after Prokofiev – “Cyborgs” was also told in comics.
