The new Ukrainian Bulava loitering munition was presented for the first time at the Eurosatory 2024 international exhibition in Paris.

Defence Express reported on this.

The Ukrainian-Czech company UAC presented its new Bulava loitering munition, also known as Mace in the export version, at the stand of the National Association of Defense Industry Enterprises of Ukraine (NAUDI).

The X-shaped kamikaze drone has a powerful combined 3.6 kg HEAT-thermobaric warhead and the ability to hit targets at a distance of up to 60 kilometers.

According to the developer, Bulava’s total takeoff weight is 11 kg. The drone takes off using a catapult and then flies with an electric motor at speeds up to 100 km/h.

With a length of 1.5 meters and a wingspan of 1.6 meters, the aircraft can stay in the air for up to 50 minutes, moving in the direction of the target or hovering in the air. The maximum flight altitude is limited to 2000 meters.

The flight can be performed directly by the operator or by satellite coordinates. For proper operation, the drone has a communication module with an encrypted channel and a CRPA antenna resistant to EW interference.

To operate at maximum distances, the drone uses MESH technology to transmit data via a repeater drone.

Due to its X-shaped wings, Bulava has high maneuverability and can easily hit targets in the least protected upper hemisphere.

The drone is guided to the target through an optical station with a day and night thermal imaging channel. According to the developers, it can be performed directly by the operator or with the help of a machine vision-based system.

UAC is a Ukrainian-Czech company and manufacturer of the Leleka LR reconnaissance UAV. The developer of the system, Deviro, has diversified its production capacities by setting up production in the Czech Republic to secure the material, technical, and intellectual base of production.

However, Bulava is not the first Ukrainian-made loitering munition. In April, Militarnyi reported on a new model of a barrage drone that will be able to strike targets at an operational and tactical depth of 100+ kilometers.
