Ukrainian troops hit a Russian S-400 SAM system in the Belgorod Oblast.

The footage of the defeated position was posted on the Dosye shpiona Telegram channel.

The attack on the Russian air defense system took place a few days ago.

The author of the publication said that the strike had been carried out by an American M142 HIMARS rocket system.

The launchers of the SAM system were completely destroyed. The radar station was damaged by debris.

Presumably, the system was deployed near the city of Belgorod and was supposed to shoot down large Ukrainian air targets.

The destruction of such a system would weaken Russia’s air defense capabilities, allowing Ukrainian forces to more effectively strike Russian targets.

Such a strike became possible thanks to the new position of the United States, which allowed the use of HIMARS on the territory of Russia.

This is all happening in the context of the Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region, after which Ukraine turned to the United States and asked for permission to strike targets inside Russia.

Biden, after receiving the request, “ordered his national security team to change the guidelines to allow for these types of counterstrikes.”

However, the decision is aimed at disrupting the Russian offensive and “does not apply to ATACMS or long-range strikes.”

Previously, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken officially confirmed that Ukraine was allowed to use U.S. weapons to strike military targets inside Russia.
