The State Bureau of Investigation claims that Russian special services were involved in the 2015 explosions at the Ukrainian Armed Forces depot in Svatove, Luhansk region.

Russians were also involved in a sabotage in 2014 at a military depot in the Czech Republic, where weapons for Ukraine were stored.

This is evidenced by the results of the investigation, the SBI press reports.

It is reported that SBI employees, in cooperation with the SSU and under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office, served suspicions on members of the organized group.

“Among them are former Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Igor Sergun (headed the department until 2016) and former Putin’s bodyguard Alexei Dyumin, who served as Chief of the Special Forces of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces from 2013 to 2015, Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Major General Valery Flustikov, Commander of the Russian GRU Unit 29155, Major General Andrey Averyanov,” the SBI said.

Also, more than 25 direct organizers and executors of the sabotage from among the Russian special services, as well as their accomplices from among the so-called L/DPR militants, were served with suspicions.

The investigation established that in 2015, representatives of the Russian special operations forces organized the explosion of a joint missile and artillery depot of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Svatove, Luhansk region.

“Russian special forces used a Leer-3 electronic warfare system with three Orlan-10 drones. On October 29, 2015, these weapons were moved from the temporarily occupied Donetsk to the frontline positions of the so-called L/DPR militants near the city of Pervomaisk, Luhansk region. From there, the aggressor launched drones in the direction of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ depot in Svatove. As they approached the facility, Russian drones dropped phosphorus grenades with parachutes. As a result of the enemy hit, the entire stock of the stored ammunition detonated,” the SSU said.

The SBI noted that 76 units of military equipment and more than 3,000 tons of missiles and ammunition were destroyed as a result of explosions and detonations of ammunition due to the enemy attack. The state suffered material damage worth more than UAH 71 million. Three servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and one civilian were killed.

The version of this GRU group’s involvement in the explosions at other military depots in Ukraine and abroad is currently being worked out.

The SSU and the SBI, in cooperation with their Czech partners, have also established the involvement of Russian special operations forces in the bombing of an arms depot in Vrbětice, Czech Republic, in 2014. According to the SBI, “Myshkin and Chepiga, already known for the attempt to poison Skripal’s family in Salbury, played an important role in this sabotage operation.”
