A Ukrainian serviceman spoke about several episodes of defense of the positions around the village of Spirne, Donetsk region.

The story of the village was shared by the military under the nickname Kriegsforscher.

Russians have been trying for a long time to capture this settlement, which is currently on the line of contact.

The positions around the village are on high ground, and their capture will mean the enemy gaining tactical advantage. From the captured positions, the enemy will be able to take direct fire control of a large space, including the settlement itself.

The military under the nickname Kriegsforscher has published a story and photos of the defense of these positions in recent months:

“On July 23, 2023, Russian troops using five tanks tried to seize our positions near the settlement of Spore, Donetsk region.

The Russians attacked our positions using an MT-LB-kamikaze stuffed with explosives. Fortunately, it was destroyed before reaching the positions. Repelling the attack, the Ukrainian military destroyed two Russian Т-80BV tanks, as well as MT-LB. Three more tanks were knocked out and consequently retreated.

On August 7, the Russians repeated their attack. This time they used BMP-1 as a kamikaze, but it was destroyed. For the attack, they used even more tanks, BMP-2, and infantry company.

During the Russian offensive, the Ukrainian military destroyed three Russian Т-80BV tanks and damaged one BMP-2. The enemy did not achieve its goals.”

Earlier, Militarnyi reported on unsuccessful attacks by the Russian military in the area of the village of Spirne in the Donetsk region. At the time, the Russians tried to break through the defense on Т-80BV tanks.

As a result of several attacks, the Svoboda Battalion of the 4th Rapid Reaction Brigade “Rubizh”, together with a unit of the 54th Mechanized Brigade, destroyed a significant number of tanks, armored personnel carriers and BMPs of the enemy, also capturing the military.

A number of attacks by the Ukrainian Defense Forces were stopped further north in the area of the settlement of Bilohorivka. There, the fighters of the 5th “Slobozhansky” Brigade of the National Guard during one of the battles destroyed up to 30 Russian infantry.
