Germany has ordered additional trucks from Rheinmetall as part of a contract signed in 2020.
This is reported on the company’s official website.
The order was placed for 367 protected and unprotected logistic vehicles.
The order also includes 1,830 swap-body platforms to serve as interchangeable load carriers.
The value of the additional order is around €285 million. Delivery of the vehicles is expected to be complete in the third quarter of 2023.
“With the call-off of a further 367 swap-body systems, we’re very pleased to be making an important contribution to the Bundeswehr and the operational readiness of the agreed NATO Division 2025,” declares Michael Wittlinger, Chairman of the Board of Management of Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles GmbH.
A large share of the swap-body trucks for the Bundeswehr will feature an armored cab, substantially enhancing crew survivability and sustainment, as well as the tactical flexibility of logistic units and formations.
MAN trucks form the basis of logistics units and engineering battalions of the Bundeswehr.
As of 2022, the total number of MAN trucks in the Bundeswehr reached 32,000 units.
Militarnyi previously reported that the Kingdom of Norway ordered 300 TG3 MIL 8×8 military trucks worth over €150 million.
The contract was signed on May 31, 2023, in Oslo by Gro Jeare, Director of the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA), and Michael Wittlinger, Chairman of the Board of Management of Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles GmbH (RMMV).
The following vehicle versions have been purchased: hook loader trucks, special vehicles with cranes, hook loader systems, trailers, and flatracks.
