Representatives of Poland in Brussels are calling for an increase in the production of ammunition and their supply to Ukraine.
The Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki said about this.
During the briefing before the summit, the head of the Polish government estimated that Ukraine’s need for ammunition was peaking.
“This also turned out to be rather challenging, the Achilles’ heel of the entire Western world, and that is why we are forcing the production of ammunition in all countries, including Poland,” said the Polish Prime Minister.
Ammunition, rounds and more ammunition. This is what Ukraine needs most, said Mateusz Morawiecki.
“Yesterday, late at night, we discussed the supply of ammunition, which is very much needed by Ukraine now. General purchases, joint orders would benefit all EU countries, NATO and Ukraine,” Morawiecki said.
According to the Polish Prime Minister, this topic will soon return to the negotiating table.
“Just as the discussion about tanks seemed completely impossible at first, as the discussion about the Patriot SAM system was postponed, I think that we will soon return to the topic of ammunition at the next EU summit,” he added.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki arrived in Brussels on Thursday for a two-day extraordinary summit of the European Council. EU leaders will discuss Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the economy and competitiveness, as well as migration policy. The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will also take part in the summit.
“This war must end, but it must end in such a way that Ukraine wins. This is clear to everyone,” Morawiecki said.
In Brussels, Morawiecki noted that there is another important package of EU sanctions against Russia on the way.
As previously reported, journalists have recently visited the artillery ammunition manufacturers under the U.S. Department of Defense, whose products are also supplied to Ukraine.
