France plans to transfer the first AMX-10 RC armored fighting vehicle to Ukraine in early February.

This was announced by Sébastien Lecornu, French Defense Ministe, on the air of France 5 TV channel.

Lecornu, for safety reasons, did not name the amount of equipment that France plans to transfer to Ukraine.

We want to act as quickly as possible. I expect that the first deliveries will be made in early February, “the minister said.

Lecornu said that the timing and number of deliveries are talked about with caution, since Russia can strike at logistics chains.

In early January, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the transfer of AMX-10 RC light tanks to Ukraine.

“This is the first delivery of Western-style armored vehicles to support the Ukrainian army,” a Macron administration official said at the time.

The French armored fighting vehicle AMX-10 RC, manufactured by GIAT, has high mobility due to its long wheelbase.

The vehicles are capable of performing reconnaissance missions as well as providing infantry fire support during conflict.

AMX-10 RC has a 6×6 wheel arrangement and is equipped with a hydropneumatic suspension system with variable ground clearance and inclination, due to which it can effectively hide in the terrain.

The armored vehicle is armed with a 105mm 105/47 F2 MECA rifled tank gun, capable of firing at a range of up to 2000 meters.

The ammunition of the gun includes its own ammunition of caliber 105×527R among which are APFSDS, HEAT-FS and high-explosive.
