The SSU has detained a Russian agent who collected information on weapons locations in the Kyiv region.
As a result of a multi-stage special operation in Kyiv region, the SSU Counterintelligence exposed another FSB agent.
The offender turned out to be a resident of Bila Tserkva, who was recruited by an officer of the Russian special service in December 2022.
Having provided written consent to cooperate with the enemy, the agent was assigned an operational name ‘Ten’ (Russian for “shadow”).
He collected information on the locations and movements of units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
The Russian agent was primarily trying to identify command and control staff and depots with artillery weapons.
He also passed coordinates of local critical infrastructure facilities to the enemy.
“Invaders needed this intelligence to prepare a series of targeted missile strikes in the region,” the SSU said.
The SSU Counterintelligence detained the enemy agent on his attempt to collect classified information on Ukrainian military bases.
According to the investigation, the traitor communicated with the FSB through a prearranged anonymous Telegram channel.
In future, the agent was supposed to set up an extensive intelligence network for greater “coverage” of the region in terms of gathering intelligence for the FSB.
During the searches at the suspect’s home, the SSU seized mobile phones with evidence of communication with the enemy. The detainee also possessed a Russian passport and pro-Kremlin symbols.
