During 10 months of the full-scale war, the Ukrainian government allocated more than 1.2 trillion hryvnias to the security and defense sector.

Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Ukraine announced this at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on December 30.

According to him, next year, as well as this year, strengthening of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be the main task for the government.

“The resources we spent in 2022 and put in the budget for 2023 clearly demonstrate this,” Shmyhal emphasized.

This year, significant financial resources were also allocated for defense needs.

“During the full-scale war, the government allocated more than 1.2 trillion hryvnias to the security and defense sector. We have significantly increased payments to all military personnel. More than 250 billion hryvnias were allocated for the purchase and modernization of weapons and equipment that effectively destroys the invaders,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

According to him, new security support mechanisms for Ukraine have been created and are actively working, including the Ramstein format, which took a key place uniting 50 countries.

The Prime Minister noted that a number of long-term contracts for the production of weapons for Ukraine were concluded this year, which will be financed by the governments of the USA, Germany, Denmark, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Norway and other partner countries over the next 2-3 years.

The organization of the repair base is taken care of by the Krauss-Maffei Wegmann arms manufacturing company. Slovakia also plans to launch the production of large-caliber ammunition for Ukraine.
