Today, Bulgaria launched a logistics operation to send military and military-technical aid to Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defense of Bulgaria reported about this.
The list of weapons and military equipment that will be provided to Ukraine is classified.
“From today, a logistical operation will begin, under which the aid approved by the National Assembly will be sent to Ukraine,” Katerina Gramatikova, Deputy Minister of Defense said.
The Chief of the country’s defense, Admiral Emil Eftimov, also did not disclose the specific types of weapons that Ukraine will receive to resist the Russian invasion.
“Having learned the conclusions from the course of hostilities in Ukraine – not only on the grounds of the applied tactics and equipment, but also on the system of material and technical support, the state and capabilities of the defense industry both in our country and in NATO and EU allies. On this basis, we proposed a certain set of weapons and equipment,” said Admiral Emil Eftimov.
Previously, Bulgaria finally ratified the agreement on the provision of military aid to Ukraine.
On December 16, it became known that the Bulgarian Parliament had supported the agreement between Bulgaria and Ukraine on the supply of weapons, equipment and ammunition, in the second and final reading.
Last week, deputies voted to approve the list of weapons that would be transferred to Ukraine.
The country’s Ministry of Defense reported that the list of assistance for Ukraine included small arms and some equipment.
The Ministry of Defense of Bulgaria also said that the type and amount of military assistance had been discussed with Ukraine.
Besides, Bulgaria agreed to participate in the EUMAM UA, European Union mission to train the Ukrainian military. Ukrainian military medics will undergo training in Bulgaria.
