Ukraine will receive R7 underwater unmanned vehicles from Belgium

Belgium will send R7 Remotely Operated Vehicles manufactured by ECA Robotics Belgium to Ukraine.

This exclusive information was published by Navy Recognition, which covers the Naval Forces of different countries.

Recently, Ludivine Dedonder, Minister of Defense of Belgium, stated that her country will transfer modern equipment, in particular underwater drones, to Ukraine.

The exact type of underwater vehicle that was transferred to Ukraine was not reported by the Belgian side.

“By the end of May, ten underwater drones manufactured by the Belgian company ECA Robotics Belgium will be delivered to Ukraine,” Ludivine Dedonder mentioned.

The Belgian Navy operates REMUS 100 compact lightweight autonomous underwater vehicles designed to operate in the coastal zone at a depth of up to 100 m.

The device can be configured to apply a wide range of standard and unique sensors depending on the requirements for the task.

However, Navy Recognition sources claim that the vehicles that will be supplied by Belgium to Ukraine would be the R7 Remotely Operated Vehicles.

The (ROV) R7 combines compactness and ease of deployment with the characteristics, speed, and carrying capacity of professional underwater vehicles.

Fast, modular, and easy to deploy, R7 is designed for oceanographers, hydrographs, and for working with underwater structures.

The vehicle is capable of operating at depths of up to 300 m on various missions, including inspection, observation, maintenance, and restoration of underwater facilities.

R7 incorporates the latest developments in digital technology. The device is ergonomically controlled thanks to an intuitive interface. R7 can be equipped with a manipulator with five functions, which makes it multifunctional. The vehicle can easily process or pull objects weighing up to 2 kg to the surface.
