The ministers of foreign affairs of the European Union approved the creation of a training military mission for Ukraine.
The decision was made at the meeting of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers on October 17.
This was reported on Twitter by Radio Svoboda’s editor for European issues, Rikard Jozwiak.
“EU foreign ministers have now agreed the military training mission for Ukraine. It should train up to 15.000 Ukrainian soldiers on EU soil,” Jozwiak said.
The journalist added that the mission should start in mid-November.
Thus, the European Union confirmed the implementation of its plans to train up to 15,000 Ukrainian military personnel as part of a new training mission on the territory of various EU countries.
As previously reported, 12,000 of them will receive basic training, and about 2,800 will undergo a special course.
Instead of a single training center in the countries of the European Union, separate training courses by specialty should be organized.
Poland will be one of the countries on whose territory the Ukrainian military will be trained under this mission.
Also, in Poland, it is planned to create a “headquarters” of a training mission.
Within the framework of the planned mission of the European Union, the command of the armed forces of Germany intends to train 5,000 Ukrainian soldiers.
France will conduct training for 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers.
