The European Union has donated thermal imaging equipment to the State Border Service of Ukraine.
The border guards said that the equipment is intended for monitoring the border.
Thermal imaging equipment was handed over through the project “EU Support to Strengthening Integrated Border Management in Ukraine”.
Border guards were given equipment worth almost €500,000.
The project “EU Support to Strengthening Integrated Border Management in Ukraine” is aimed at supporting the implementation of reforms that bring the Ukrainian border management system closer to the standards and best practices of the European Union.
The project was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on July 24, 2019.
The project runs from December 2019 to December 2022.
Together with the supply of the special equipment, the EU’s support to the participants of the integrated border management in Ukraine has already exceeded the total amount of more than €1.5 million.
From the end of February 2022, the European Union, within the framework of the project, consistently provided emergency assistance to support the work of bodies working on the borders of Ukraine.
Recently, within the framework of this project, the EU handed over helmets and body armor worth almost €1 million to border guards.
The project, in particular, delivered a number of means of life support, such as ready meals and first aid kits, as well as other equipment worth about €300,000.
Purchases were also made to meet other needs of the services, including the purchase of additional personal protective equipment, diesel generators, cameras, etc.
