The Ukrainian servicemen detected the wreckage of a destroyed Su-34 fighter jet of the Russian Air Force near Izium in the Kharkiv region.
The video featuring the downed Russian aircraft was released on social media.
One of the fuselage fragments contains a number and remnants of the camouflage, which allows to identify the aircraft.
Russians lost the Su-34 with the hull number “20” (RF-95004).
The Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the aircraft was shot down a few days ago.
The aircraft was probably part of the 47th fighter jet aviation regiment (military unit 45117, Baltimore military airfield, Voronezh, Russian Federation).
According to the Oryx OSINT portal data, the Russians have already confirmed the loss of more than 10 aircraft of this type. According to open sources, the Russian industry has produced approximately 140 units of such fighter jets.
Su-34 is a strike aircraft. It is designed to carry out precise missile and bomb strikes on enemy ground targets in operational and tactical depth. According to the developers, it can be used in any weather conditions.
Serial production of the aircraft is conducted at the Novosibirsk Aircraft Industrial Association named after Chkalov. The aircraft was designed to replace the Su-24 attack aircraft used in armed conflicts in recent years. Development of the aircraft began on June 19th, 1986, under the code name T-10V. The plane development was based on the successful Su-27 fighter jet project. The first flight of the serial aircraft Su-34, built under the state order for the PKS of Russia, took place on the 12th of October, 2006.
On March 20th, 2014, the Su-34 strike fighter jet was adopted by the Air Force of the Russian Federation.
