The Kingdom of Norway will provide more military aid for the needs of Ukraine.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksii Reznikov, had a telephone conversation on the issue with the Minister of Defense of Norway, Bjørn Arild Gram.
Reznikov wrote that in a telephone conversation with his Norwegian counterpart Bjørn Arild Gram, he thanked the Norwegian government for the decision to provide a new package of military aid and to assist in the training of the Ukrainian servicemen.
“I had a telephone conversation with my friend and colleague, the Minister of Defense of Norway. We are grateful to the Norwegian government for the decision to provide a new package of military aid and train Ukrainian soldiers,” the statement reads.
He also said that he had a conversation with the head of the U.S. Pentagon, Lloyd Austin.
“We discussed the current security situation, needs arising on the battlefield and ways to strengthen the capabilities of the Ukrainian army. Soon there will be more military aid from the USA,” he said.
Reznikov did not specify what exactly will be included in the new aid packages.
Previously, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also stated that Germany and Norway will continue to provide long-term assistance to Ukraine with military equipment and weapons, but also political and economic support.
“Putin started a war of aggression, the goal of which is quite clear – from the beginning, he wanted to capture all of Ukraine in a short period of time, and after that failed, he concentrated at least on the east of the country. None of us can know if he has new goals to pursue. That is why it is so important in this situation that we do not stop military assistance to Ukraine, including with effective weapons,” Scholz said.
Regarding the end of the war, according to the chancellor, peace under the dictates of Russia will not be accepted. Achieving peace is possible only with the consent of the President, the government, the parliament and the people of Ukraine.
“It is also clear that any ideas regarding new borders, officially unrecognized, will also be unacceptable,” Scholz said, adding that Russia cannot hope that it will seize certain Ukrainian lands and wait for the situation in the world to change for its better.
None of the strict sanctions imposed against the Russian Federation will be lifted without the consent of Ukraine. The Russian president should be aware of this, and that is exactly what the politicians who talk to Putin on the phone are proving to him, the German chancellor emphasized.
