Ukrainian Black Sea ports gradually return to work.
The Ukrainian Naval Forces reported about this.
The agreement to unblock Ukrainian ports to ensure grain export allowed for the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Pivdennyi to resume their work.
The Ukrainian Naval Forces explained that ships will depart and arrive in caravan formations with a pilot ship.
The project to achieve this aim was united specialists from the Center for Navigation, Hydrography, and Hydrometeorology of the Ukrainian Navy and the Odesa District of the State Hydrography.
Currently, military and civilian specialists search for underwater objects and install special navigation equipment for navigation safety.
Hydrographic survey work is also ongoing. That includes determination of depth and approach channels, as well as route recommendations for ships.
The Ukrainian Navy emphasized that despite the Russian invasion and countless attacks, the Ukrainian servicemen continue to perform their work in all directions, in particular, restoring shipping to ensure grain export.
Two weeks ago, it became known that the Ukrainian Naval Forces started helping organize agricultural exports.
The use of the Bystre canal in the Danube river mouth became possible due to the liberation of Zmiinyi Island from the Russian invaders.
“The island is of strategic importance. It allows us to control the surface and, partially, air situation in the South of Ukraine. The invaders took advantage of it by blocking civilian vessels in the Southern part of our country,” the Ukrainian Navy emphasized.
Before that, due to the civilian shipping blockade, sea transportation companies had to use the Sulina canal (Romania) as the only alternative. This led to the accumulation of a large number of vessels and congestion of the canal.
