Belarusian border guard made his way to Ukraine under his people’s shelling to join the Ukrainian Defence Forces in the war against Russia.

The State Border Service of Ukraine reports about this.

The Ukrainian border guards in the Volyn region detained a man without identification documents who illegally crossed the border from the territory of Belarus.

The detainee claimed that he is a Belarusian border guard serving in the Brest border group and wants to join the Defence Forces of Ukraine in the war against the Russian invasion forces.

The man claimed that he was coming to Ukraine with a fellow supporter, but on the way to the border, they were discovered and chased with fire by the Belarusian military or border guards.

Therefore, as the detainee noted, only he was able to cross the state border.

The State Border Service is now checking this information, after which it will make a decision on the further fate of the detained Belarusian.

As previously reported, in May, the Ukrainian military formation consisting of Belarusian volunteers was increased to a regiment. Then the commanders of the formation announced the creation of the Belarusian Volunteer Battalion named after Kastus Kalinovsky. The Belarusian regiment included the “Litvin” and the “Volat” battalions.

In terms of composition, the regiment holds an intermediate position between a battalion and a brigade. Previously, the formation served as a battalion formed in March 2022 to protect Ukraine.

It was formed from members of the “Belarus” tactical group, members of the “White Legion”, and “Young Front”, as well as other Belarusians who were not previously part of such formations.

Belarusian volunteers for Ukraine also call on Belarusian citizens to acquire military skills in the ranks of the so-called people’s militia in Belarus.

This concerns the citizens who failed to join the Belarusian military association in Ukraine.
