The Defense Forces of Ukraine are using the captured Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery system against the invaders.

The Air Force reports that the first enemy target has already been destroyed with the trophy weapon.

ArmyInform reported about this.

“The trophy Pantsyr-S1 is ready to go! Its automatic guns are suitable for the 30-mm projectiles from our own arsenal. But we’ve captured some original ammunition as well. Nowadays this Russian Pantsir fights on the side of Ukraine and has already shot down its first enemy target. We will not specify which one,” says the spokesman for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Yurii Ihnat.

He noted that currently only one such system is “in service”, but the Air Force won’t mind having a division of these systems.

Yurii Ihnat said that, in addition to the Pantsir-S1 system, Ukrainian anti-aircraft fighters also operate several radar stations taken from invaders, as well as captured Buk missile systems weapons and equipment.

“We hope that as a result of the Ukrainian army’s counteroffensive, the Russians will also delight us with such anti-aircraft missile systems as the S-400. That would be a real “Triumph” for our anti-aircraft missile forces,” Yurii Ihnat added.

We reported on three captured Pantsir systems back in March, in addition to those that were neutralized on Zmiinyi Island.

The first one was burned on March 1. On March 4, soldiers of the Mykolaiv Region Territorial Defense captured the second Russian surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery system. The third one entered the Ukrainian forces in the Mykolaiv region as well.
The author of the video says that the Russian system is going to be destroyed.

However, Dutch publication Oryx released a list of trophy equipment based on its collected data. According to it, the Ukrainian servicemen have two trophy Pantsir-S1.

Pantsir-S1

Pantsir-S1 is a Russian ground-based surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery system.

The system was created in 1994 and was first demonstrated at MAKS-1995. Since then, the system has been significantly upgraded. The last known modification was demonstrated at MAKS-2007. On November 16, 2012, by the order of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Medvedev, the Pantsir-S1 was adopted by the Russian army.

The system’s feature is the combination of a multi-channel target capture and tracking system with missile and artillery weapons, which creates a continuous zone of target interception at a height starting from 0 m and at a range starting from 200 m. Its altitude reach is 15 km, and it has a range of 20 km, even without external support.

Upgraded Pantsir-SM short-range anti-aircraft missile-gun system is mounted on the K-53958 “Tornado” wheeled chassis with 8×8 wheel formula. The vehicle has an armored three-seater cabin and reinforced anti-mine protection.

It is capable of transporting up to 22,000 kg of equipment on top of its own weight of 21,000 kg. The power of the diesel engine is 450 hp. The maximum highway speed can reach 90 km/h.
