Poland plans to build observation towers along its border with the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation.
This was announced by the Head of the Border Service of Poland Tomasz Praha in the Sejm, Ukrinform reports.
He noted that the documents are ready and the current focus is funding.
“We are almost ready, the documentation has been prepared, we are working on obtaining the funds. We estimate that with inflation considered we will need about 330 million zlotys (over $70 million) on this section (of the border – Ed.),” Praha noted.
He emphasized that this system is necessary because Russian behavior is “unstable”.
The border between the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation and Poland is about 200 km.
At the end of June, the Border Service of Poland announced the completion of the 5-meter tall barrier throughout the border with Belarus.

Previously, due to the sanctions, Lithuania imposed an embargo on the shipment of goods from mainland Russia to the Kaliningrad region through its territory. The Russians declared that the response to Lithuania’s actions will be “grievous and sensitive” for the country’s residents.
