The Russian military used parachute-equipped cluster projectiles to shell Zolochiv in the Kharkiv Region.

This was announced by Viktor Kovalenko, the Head of the Zolochiv community.

The shelling began at 4:30 am.

No one was killed or injured, but 4 houses were damaged.

A local social media account reported about the night shelling.

“This was a terrible night in Zolochiv. Booms were so hard that the houses shook and ripped off from the ground. The enemy generously spilled projectiles and deadly missiles onto the village. Their fragments are everywhere. Thank God no one was hurt,” – the message said.

Parachute projectiles were used in two instances. These are either non-dangerous illumination rounds or cluster munitions.

Parachutes are attached to cluster munitions to scatter around as many submunition as possible. Some of it does not explode, so a high risk of people finding explosive objects remains for a long time.

The city of Zolochiv is located in the north-west of the Kharkiv Region. Zolochiv community borders with Dergachi community and is constantly shelled by the invaders.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine, educational institutions, agricultural enterprises, infrastructure facilities, hundreds of private houses have been damaged in the community.

42 people were killed, about 70 were injured.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces reports that in the Kharkiv direction the enemy focuses their main efforts on positional warfare. They also try to prevent the advance of the Defense Forces of Ukraine to the state border.

Using army aviation, the enemy attacked Rubizhne, Ruska Lozova, Bayrak, and Dementiyivka.

Previously, the SSU detained a Russian spy, who had been selling the Russians information about the positions of the Ukrainian military in the Kharkiv Region.
