Bumar-Łabędy has signed a contract with the 1st Regional Logistics Base in Valča for the overhaul and maintenance of the PT-91 tank batch.
The agreement will be implemented during 2022-2024.

The overhaul of PT-91 tanks is of key importance for the capabilities of armored and mechanized troops of the Polish Army.
“Due to regular maintenance and repairs, the armored vehicles used by the Polish army are regaining their full potential and maintaining the necessary combat readiness,” the ZM “Bumar-Łabędy” SA Chairman of the Board Edita Szymanska said.
RT-91 is the main battle tank of the Polish army. These tanks were manufactured as a licensed version of the Soviet T-72M1.
The first prototypes were made in 1993. The basic version had been mass-produced at Bumar-Łabędy until 2002.
RT-91 has an accurate fire control and communication systems. The protection of equipment and crew is additionally strengthened by reactive armor.
As part of the overhaul, in addition to reproducing the full life of the tank, it is possible to equip it with new elements increasing its convenience and combat capabilities.
Poland is actively working to renew its armored vehicle fleet. In particular, the United States is currently deciding to speed up the supply of Abrams tanks to Poland.
Negotiations are also happening to supply Poland with South Korean K2 Black Panther tanks.
Poland continues negotiations with Germany on the transfer of state-of-the-art German Leopard 2A7 tanks. Germany, for its part, “has to see what can be done.”
