The military is preparing for possible battles in the future with opponents such as Russia and China, writes “Voice of America.”

Russian-speaking roleplayers are involved in the exercises at Fort Irwin, who are “playing” the representatives of the enemy state, controlling the fictional city of Ugen. “Enemy” is constantly spreading misinformation against the brigade of the American military. The latter would be preparing an attack against the city controlled by the enemy.

In the coming weeks, in accordance with the scenario of the exercises, the US military will study fighting the enemy who wants to destroy the city with missile strikes for further capture.

“I think that now the whole military is really looking at what is happening in Ukraine and trying to learn from those lessons,” Christine Wormuth, the US Secretary of the Army, said in her interview with AP.

She also noted that the US army is studying the mistakes of the Russians – from problems with logistics to the use of Internet-based communication. Separately, Vormut highlighted the confrontations in the information space.

“Since we are observing what is happening with the Russian troops now, it will be useful for us to think about what is right in terms of modernization,” Wormuth added.

She also noted that some American tanks are too heavy, and the terrain in Europe is difficult to navigate through.

Thus, the military would need to have “the right balance between mobility, survivability, and efficiency of the tank.” The thing is that if it is lighter, then, accordingly, it will be less viable, so it is important to understand what risks would prevail.

Pentagon has repeatedly pointed out that during primary Russia’s large-scale offensive, they were not carrying out the constant attacks from the air and were not supporting its ground troops, which are necessary for advancing to the city. Instead, the invaders were bombing the surrounding cities, destroying hospitals, schools, and apartment buildings, and killing civilians.

Thus the other brigade which will be arriving at the training center will face a potential opponent who will be using the same tactics that Russia is using in Ukraine.
