Two Ukrainian pilots were released from Russian captivity by the efforts of the Ministry of Defense.

Militarnyi informs about this.

Ivan Pepelyashko and Oleksiy Chyzh were taken prisoner by the invaders on March 8th near Nova Basan village in the Chernihiv region.

The Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine notes that after the pilots’ detention, the invaders changed their location several times. Eventually, they ended up in a Kursk pre-trial detention center. There, Ivan Pepelyashko and Oleksiy Chyzh were kept in a cell with eight other Ukrainian officers. Among them were also the wounded.

“The boys are holding on, but most of the wounds began to fester. We asked the Russians to provide us with at least bandages and Brilliant green, so we can take care of the hardest injuries. But it was pointless,” said Ivan Pepelyashko.

The captured pilots were constantly interrogated.

“We were forced to record propaganda videos. If we refused, we were threatened that they would stop bandaging wounds of our fellows. It was said that the inflamed parts would be cut off piece by piece. They mentioned our families and the danger they would be facing,” said Oleksiy Chyzh.

He also added that the invaders were constantly referring to Putin’s propaganda that Lenin had created Ukraine.

In addition, the pilots said that the Russian military admits the failure of its “blitzkrieg”.

“They are really zombies! They ask if there are many “Nazis” in Ukraine. They repeat that they want to liberate Ukraine from the Nazis. That we will soon live in one country again, and Poland will take Galicia. Just assholes,” Pepelyashko said.

Now the servicemen are in the hospital, they are provided with all necessary medical care.

Details of the return of the pilots are not reported. At the same time, the Ministry of Defense stated that they continue their efforts on returning the prisoners of war and will work to bring everyone home.

Previously, on April 9th, the third exchange of prisoners of war was conducted. Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister stated that 12 servicemen and 14 civilians were released.
