Rheinmetall, the military equipment manufacturer, is preparing to supply Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine.

Militarnyi informs about this.

Currently, this concerns 50 used Leopard 1 battle tanks, as per Defense Express with reference to Handelsblatt newspaper.

It is reported that the warehouses of German defense concerns hold approximately 100 units of decommissioned Leopard 1A5s.

Armin Papperger, the company’s CEO, announced his intention to hand over the equipment to Ukraine.

Rheinmetall could be delivering the first Leopard tanks to Ukraine in as soon as six weeks. The technical condition of the tanks is currently being examined.

The whole batch would then be delivered to Ukraine within three months.

However, Papperger noted that the German government should authorize such a supply.

In addition, it is stated that Ukrainian soldiers should not be facing any difficulties with mastering these new tanks and could be trained to use the Leopard 1 within a few days.

Previously, Rheinmetall, a German manufacturer of military equipment, offered Ukraine to purchase Marder infantry fighting vehicles.

Annalena Baerbock, German Foreign Minister, noted that European partners should strengthen their support for Ukraine with weapons, in particular equipment and heavy weapons.
