The Command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces has dismissed a number of myths that create a false impression of the ability to successfully counteract the russian aerospace forces without significant assistance from the Allies.

In particular, the Air Force denied the following claims circulating in the media:

1. Ukraine’s success on the ground is enough to win the war.
2. The Air Force has weapons to effectively protect the country from russia.
3. “Stingers” and other MANPADS compensate for the lack of equipment at the Air Force of Ukraine.
4. The United States and NATO provide Ukraine with the necessary weapons. The Allies are doing everything possible outside direct participation in the war.

The Air Force has emphasized the importance of airspace dominance to be able to win the war.

They also claim that at the moment, the russian aerospace forces are dominating the Ukrainian military pilots from technological and quantitative standpoints.

MANPADS have the capacity to shoot down enemy aircraft going at a maximum height of 5000 m. To shoot down cruise missiles, there is a need for fighter jets, as well as medium and long-range SAMs. So far, the partners have not answered requests to provide them.

Ukrainian Air Force has outlined what types of equipment they need. The air component needs F-16 and F-15 fighters. The Air Force of Ukraine is convinced that Ukrainian pilots would be able to master them within a short time. To sustain the air defense, Patriot and NASAMS SAMs are required.

However, the anti-aircraft missile detachments are also needed to replenish the arsenal of Soviet-era S-300’s and Buk-М1’s.
