The Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated five settlements near Lyman in Donetsk region

The Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the liberation of five settlements near the city of Lyman in the Donetsk region.

Ukrainian soldiers encircled the Russian group near Lyman. The spokesman of the Eastern Group of Forces, Serhiy Cherevaty, said about this on the air of the telethon.

Ukrainian forces liberated Yampil, Novoselivka, Shandryholovo, Drobysheve, and Stavky from the Russian invaders.

Stabilization measures are currently underway in the settlements.

“The Russian group in the Lyman area is surrounded. The settlements of Yampil, Novoselivka, Shandryholove, Drobysheve, and Stavky are liberated. Stabilization measures are ongoing there,” Cherevaty said.

According to him, there may be “somewhere around 5-5.5 thousand” enemy personnel in the Ukrainian encirclement in the Lyman area.

“There, indeed, our data showed that the Russian group (in the Lyman area – Ed.) numbered around 5-5.5 thousand. However, active hostilities “minus” their combat composition, as well as some groups that tried to break through. That is, establishing the exact number of Russians still requires analysis to name the exact number,” Cherevaty clarified.

The head of the Luhansk military administration, Serhiy Haidai, said that currently all the ways of transporting ammunition there or the peaceful exit of this group from Lyman have already been cut off.

The spokesman of the Eastern Group of Troops noted that the Russians are still unsuccessfully trying to “break out of” the encirclement, but these attempts are “not very successful” due to the actions of Ukrainian defenders.

In his evening address on September 30, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the Defense Forces of Ukraine liberated the village of Yampil in Donetsk region.

He also noted that Ukrainian forces are making progress in the Lyman direction.

As previously reported, the General Staff reported that an operation to encircle the Russian group is underway in the Lyman direction.
