Explosive Technicians of Ukrainian Police Receive Gear from Germany

Explosive technicians of the Ukrainian National Police and the Interior Ministry Expert Service received technical assistance from Germany.

On March 14, 2024, the Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany handed over a technical assistance package to Ukrainian colleagues.

The special equipment is intended for the units of the National Police’s Explosive Service and the State Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Vasyl Teteria, Head of the National Police Ivan Vyhivskyi, Charge d’Affaires of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine Tim Prange, and representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police of Ukraine.

Police explosive technicians received an underwater drone, 10 explosive suits with a set of equipment, 20 portable lighting systems, metal detectors, body armors, and a combined system for demining territories.

The demining system regards the GCS-100 mine clearing vehicle by the Swiss company Global Clearance Solutions, which got into the photo.

The State Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine received three automatic DNA extraction stations, a genetic analyzer, thermostats, a freezer, six centrifuges, and additional equipment from the partners.

According to Ivan Vyhivskyi, the Head of the National Police, police explosive technicians are conducting mine clearance operations in Ukrainian territories on a daily basis and have already conducted 60,000 such missions.

Since the start of the Russian invasion, over 33,000 hectares of territory have been surveyed, with authorities seizing more than 280,000 rounds of ammunition and over 9 tons of explosives.

In February 2024, the Ukrainian National Police received a new aid package from the United States with special equipment.

It includes 66 cars, 250 drones, 9 3D ground laser scanning systems with software, and a DNA laboratory for investigative units.
