Defenders of Soledar will continuously receive ammunition – Zelensky

Defense forces in Bakhmut and Soledar will be promptly and continuously supplied with ammunition.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated this.

On January 12, the President held a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, at which special attention was paid to the battles in Bakhmut and Soledar.

“The units defending these cities will be supplied with ammunition and everything necessary promptly and without interruption,” Volodymyr Zelensky reported.

Russian troops are actively trying to capture the city of Soledar, Donetsk region.

Lloyd Austin, United States Secretary of Defense, shared that as of Wednesday evening, he had no confirmation of Russian claims about the alleged “capture” of the Ukrainian city of Soledar.

“First, let me start with a question about Soledar and whether the Russians got it. Currently, we cannot confirm this information,” the United States Secretary of Defense pointed out.

He noted that “very dynamic” battles are ongoing there, and control over the districts is changing from one hand to another in conditions of fierce fighting.

“We are focused on doing everything possible and making sure that the Ukrainians have the capabilities necessary to successfully defend their sovereign territory,” the Head of the Pentagon noted.

Soledar’s capture was not confirmed while reporting that Russian troops are trying to take control of the city and the supply routes of Ukrainian units. However, they are suffering heavy losses, and the fighting continues.

As previously reported, German PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers are operating against the Russians in the Soledar area.
