In the Kemerovo region of the Russian Federation (Kuzbass), a camp has been organized for the wounded and deserters who are being sent back to the front.
ASTRA reported on this with reference to four Russian soldiers who are in the camp.
It is reported that the camp was organized in the town of Yurga, on the base of the 74th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade.
According to the sources, a so-called “penal regiment” is being formed in the camp – wounded and sick people who did not wait for a medical examination, escaped from service, or were transferred to this unit after conflicts with the previous command.
“There are people without fingers, grandfathers who do not understand where they are, and people on crutches,” the ASTRA source stated.
The next batch was promised to be sent to the war within days, and military equipment was being loaded into railroad cars.
“We will be taken under a convoy, like cattle. We will insulate the railcars at our own expense, they said. Just like in ’45, when prisoners were transported, they did the same. No exits, no entrances. Some of them left in November. There was the first shipment to Kursk, and someone has already been killed,” the media reports.
According to the military, they are not allowed to go outside the camp and use phones, and for any fault or request to treat them humanely, they are severely beaten.
“Last week, [the military] beat five guys, they think they are tough and in the right. A comrade from the company was ratted out. The military police took him away, pepper sprayed his face, and beat him,” another source stated.
According to him, the military police also beat the perpetrators while the latter are handcuffed. The newspaper writes that there is a room for the guilty on the territory of the camp, where the military sleep on the concrete floor without food and water.
“They put 30 people per 10 square meters and let them go to the toilet once a day. They may even forget – people pee in bottles, and sometimes even under themselves,” one of the soldiers shared.
Offenders are punished either by being sent to the front or by other means. Some of them have been in such camps for several months and seem to have an uncertain status.
Recently, one of the penal soldiers was searched for by security forces in his hometown, as he is wanted for unauthorized departure from the unit, although he has been in the detention camp since the fall.
As the wife of one of the soldiers told ASTRA, new personal files are being drawn up for her husband. At the same time, they are not given documents explaining that they may escape.
ASTRA’s interlocutors also spoke about an incident involving the death of a soldier at a training ground.
“One soldier was put out of action, although he had all the documents confirming the need for hospitalization. However, the commander, Colonel Beloglazov, decided otherwise and sent him to the training ground anyway. The man died the same day. According to the doctors, he had an epileptic seizure while passing the scout’s lane. While he was being taken out, his heart stopped,” one of the servicemen shared.
On January 16, it was reported that Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, signed an order to call up citizens in the reserve for military training.
